We headed to a Nubian village by boat with our guide. We enjoyed some hibiscus tea and had a wonderful time learning numbers and the alphabet in both the Nubian and Arabic languages from a teacher at the local school—it had been years since I last sat in a classroom. Our guide waited patiently while we were engrossed in shopping, and even after we returned to Aswan, he accommodated our requests, such as taking us to a bank. I regret not asking for his name. All in all, it was a great tour for us.

2. Visit to a Traditional Nubian Village - Walk through narrow, dust‑kissed lanes lined with mud‑brick houses painted in bold blues, oranges, and yellows—each reflecting the Nubian love for color. - Meet local families who welcome you with sweet Nubian tea and perhaps a spontaneous dance or song, offering a genuine glimpse into daily life.
3. Cultural Insights - Learn about Nubian architecture, including the distinctive domed roofs and intricate door carvings that symbolize protection and prosperity.
4. Nile Bank Relaxation - Stroll along the peaceful Nile shore, where you can watch traditional fishing boats glide by or simply soak in the serene landscape. - Optional short boat ride (if time permits) to view the village from the water and capture stunning sunset photos.
5. Taste of Nubian Cuisine - Savor a modest lunch or snack featuring local specialties such as fiteer, mesh, and honey, perfectly paired with traditional tea or hibiscus - Sip on hibiscus tea or strong Arabic coffee while sharing stories with your hosts.
Optional Add-on: Visit the beautiful Botanical Island (El Nabatat Island), a peaceful oasis on the Nile featuring one of the world's oldest botanical gardens, home to rare tropical plants, scenic walking paths, and stunning river views. We chose an English-speaking guide even though we don't speak English very well, but Yousri adapted and we had a great time. The boat ride and the walk through the village are fantastic.
